BUDGET 2008

The year 2008 consolidated the financial stability that Osmose recovered in 2007.
This is a formidable achievement of our project coordinator Françoise Bricout as a indefatigable and skilled fundraiser.
The budget remains important but seems to finally have reached its ceiling, with a slight increase (18%) and a positive financial result of nearly 42,000$.
The process of localization translates to the pie chart below by the presence of Osmose France as a distinct funding agency.
Osmose France is the main donor for the project (27%) while eight other donors have contributed to 47% in total.
In addition to membership and donations, the funds of Osmose France consist mainly of support from Foundations and NGOs
(Total Foundation, Nicolas Hulot Foundation, Codegaz and Vision du Monde).
As a result, the real number of donors in 2008 comes to twelve (eleven in 2007), a continuous management challenge for the project.
Project’s self-funding in Cambodia through ecotourism and handicraft generates only 15% of the total income. The color of pie section legends below indicates the allocation of the respective funds: local development (brown), Saray (kaki), ecotourism (violet), environmental education (blue) and conservation (green).
Over 80% of the budget is spent on the activities, while the remainder covers office functioning and the coordinator (international volunteer). The project components – environmental education, local development and handicraft (Saray) – represent the main expenses. The increase in budget for these latter two components is due to the building of houses for Osmose families ($13,700) and of a new water hyacinth handicraft workshop ($13,700).
